NASHVILLE (BP) -- The late U.S. Rep. John Lewis, an ordained preacher who studied theology at a college co-founded by the Southern Baptist Convention, is being remembered as a humble man whose faith-driven civil rights struggle endured until his death July 17 at age 80.
During his studies at American Baptist Theological Seminary, now American Baptist College (ABC), he learned the principles of nonviolent protest that would move him to suffer more than 40 arrests and repeatedly risk his life in America’s civil rights struggles. Read More
